Thermal Image Simulator (TIS)

TIS is equipped with a control system to create a thermal image on the target by heating foil strips attached to the target board.  The foil should be attached to the target silhouette by staples, glue, or other similar method and connected to the TIS by means of a connector cable. The heating system will be switched on and the temperature difference controlled by the respective remote controller. The control electronics for the thermal target are located inside the water- and dustproof TIS housing.  The selected temperature difference can be reached within 5 seconds and hold, even in strong wind or when used on a moving target.  The default (selectable) temperature hold duration setting is 120 seconds.  If the target is not lowered before the default time runs out the heating will be switched off. Heating stops automatically when target is lowered.

The heating foil consists of a 15 or 7,5 cm wide aluminum foil, laminated on a non-flammable plastic strip. The used plastic is an environmentally friendly PE material (polyethylene). The plastic is of blue color. This enables any supervisor on the firing range to identify if a target is equipped with a thermal image without the use of a night vision.
